2016
The View project team secured the support of Network Rail for their project to restore the original Barnes Bridge
2017
Network Rail needed the commitment of the local Council for such a long-term project. Richmond Council agreed to lend their support.
2019
The View successfully secured funding for a feasibility study from South West Railway’s Customers and Communities Improvement Fund.
2021
A feasibility study by Crouch Waterfall showed this exciting project is entirely achievable. The existing state of the bridge is capable of transformation into a new green space.
2022
Moxon, the architects who designed the new Dukes Meadow Footbridge under Barnes Bridge on the Hounslow side, are appointed to The View.
Next steps
We’re looking to put in place a formal agreement between Network Rail, Richmond and Hounslow Councils to secure the future of the bridge for the community. Once we have this agreement, we can start fundraising.
